Abstract

With such a propounding and astonishing establishment of medical science and a lot of research is going on, the base for all research and present therapeutic advancements remains the same – “Ayurveda”, the science of medicinal plants which has an advocating history for over 5000 years. The name may vary from region to region, but the meaning to which it implies the same irrespective of the region. From the past, Melia azedarach is known and used extensively for its anthelmintic, anti-lithic, endocrine, emmenagogue, sterile, anti-viral, contraceptive, antecedent properties. Various Scientific observations did research work in support of its properties. The tree has medicinal traits from the tip of the root to dried fruits and seeds. This review focuses light on the phytochemical, therapeutic, and drug synthesis capability of the entire plant.
