Abstract

Potassium chromate was studied as a corrosion inhibitor of mild steel in cassava fluid extract through the weight loss method. The work showed that at different concentrations and temperatures (25°C and 60°C), that potassium chromate inhibited the corrosion of mild steel in the cassava fluid extract. The investigation revealed that inhibitor efficiency increases with concentration increase and also vary with temperature. The work proved that hydrogen cyanide in the cassava fluid extract was responsible for the corrosion of mild steel and that potassium chromate is an effective inhibitor of mild steel corrosion in cassava fluid extract.
